A Guide to the Frieze Art Fair on Randall’s Island

If you're looking for a fun rainy day activity this weekend, consider taking a trip over to Randall's Island, where the Frieze Art Fair is in full swing.

With featured work from some of the most influential and important artists in the world, Frieze is one of the biggest and art fairs of the year, with galleries coming from 26 countries. And it's not the only one happening this week (unofficially called Art Week); there's also TEFAF, the 1–54 Contemporary African Art Fair, Art New York, the Contemporary and Digital Art Fair, the Fridge Art Fair and the Other Art Fair, to name only a few.

At Frieze, expect to see work from artists like Anish Kapoor, Tracey Emin, Robert Indiana and Alex Katz, as well as two new special exhibitions on virtual reality and self-taught artists, and two entirely new sections on Latin American art and the New York gallery community. Of course, for anyone more interested in people watching than art, the international art world glitterati always turns out for Frieze, so expect lots of zany but fabulous outfits.

The festival runs now through Sunday, so make sure to snag your tickets soon. Plus Related residents Related residents receive a special discount on tickets; get it here.
